At Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawai‘i, we build and support one-to-one mentoring relationships to ignite the biggest possible futures for Hawai‘i’s keiki. Each year we create and support more than 1,500 life-changing friendships for youth and volunteers. Our goal? To create a brighter future for keiki on Kaua‘i, Maui, and O‘ahu, one friendship at a time. Today's youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them navigate life's obstacles and reach their fullest potential. Whether you are interested in becoming a Mentor, enrolling a Youth, or just want to learn more about mentoring, we invite you to check out our programs below.

community-based mentoring Program
(O‘ahu, maui and Kaua‘i)

Adults and children are matched in a one-to-one mentoring friendship based on personalities, interests, hobbies, and geographic locations. Matches hang out at least twice a month and do activities they both enjoy, like going to the beach, watching movies, or sharing a meal. Matches form meaningful memories while having fun!

(o‘ahu, MAUI AND KAUA‘I)

Our school-based program provides mentorship for elementary and middle school students from caring and responsible mentors (typically high school students) in a supervised group setting after school, alongside other matches.

BBBS Hawai‘i collaborates with community organizations to deliver mentoring at designated sites. Mentors engage with youth in familiar, accessible environments, fostering trust and promoting positive development. This approach helps build stronger, more connected communities while offering valuable guidance and resources to young individuals.

MAUI MENTOR CENTER
(Maui Only)

The Maui Mentor Center offers an after-school program three days per week (Mentor Mondays & Tutor Tuesdays/Thursdays) that serves children who live in the Hale Makana community. Any child between 3rd – 8th grade is welcome to apply. Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment that helps the students to achieve their goals and reach their highest potential.
