Big Sister Crystal and Little Sister Kayla were matched on January 13, 2016. Kayla’s father Chad enrolled Kayla in the program because he wanted her to have someone in her life other than him to confide in. Dad said that "the relationship mentoring really impacted my child's life in many ways. Kayla and Crystal hangout at the mall, go to different restaurants, and try new adventures that Kayla had not experience before. I see that my daughter learned to never give up on goals you have in life and to never miss an opportunity. "
Becoming a Big was a no-brainer for Crystal. She said she "wanted the opportunity to be part of a child’s life with the hope that my involvement would give them a better chance at resiliency and future success. I remember hoping that my dedication, which was borne not out of familial obligation - but simply because I loved and appreciated them, would hopefully have a positive impact on their lives. I had no idea that the experience would be even more rewarding for me than anything else I’ve done in my life."
Big Sister Crystal and Little Sister Kayla love to go on adventures, out to eat, and get their nails done. Spending time together is always fun despite what they choose to do. Kayla shared "I could not really imagine how my life would be without my Big Sister. I talk to my Big Sister about everything I need to let off my chest or talk about."
