site-Based Mentoring Program

Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawai‘i collaborates with community organizations to deliver mentoring at designated sites. These partnerships enable tailored programs that address specific community needs and provide consistent, structured support for youth. Mentors engage with youth in familiar, accessible environments, fostering trust and promoting positive development. This approach helps build stronger, more connected communities while offering valuable guidance and resources to young individuals.

lydia house

Make a lasting impact in the life of a Native Hawaiian youth through our 1-to-1 mentorship program, serving young people who have experienced homelessness and are now creating brighter futures at Lydia House, a community center supported by the Liliʻuokalani Trust.

As a mentor, you’ll be thoughtfully matched with a young adult aged 16–26 based on shared interests, goals, and backgrounds to foster a meaningful and lasting relationship. Your role is to provide encouragement, guidance, and consistent support as your mentee works toward their aspirations.
All new matches begin by meeting on-site at Lydia House, located near downtown Honolulu. The program requires matches to meet at least twice a month for a minimum of one hour. Lydia House offers a safe, welcoming space with access to a full kitchen, craft room, outdoor sports areas, and more. These shared resources provide fun and flexible ways to connect. Over time, matches may also choose to meet out in the community for other activities.

hawai‘i youth correctional facility
(HYCF)

Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawai'i is partnering with Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility (HYCF) to serve youth who are currently involved in the criminal justice system.  By providing 1:1 mentoring services, we aim to reduce recidivism and support youth with their journey.

Mentors will begin meeting with youth at HYCF and continue to build their relationship after youth are released.  This support will help the youth as they transition back into the community.
