When many people hear "Big Brothers Big Sisters" they automatically think of the clothing and used goods drop-off bins and trucks they see driving around O'ahu and Maui. What they don't realize is that Big Brothers Big Sisters is primarily a mentoring nonprofit organization which serves keiki and volunteers through one-to-one mentoring programs. The Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation (the clothing/goods collection service) is actually the fundraising arm of Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawai'i (the nonprofit organization).
The goal of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation is to collect clothing and small household goods to create a profit, which is then turned around and invested back into mentoring programs for Hawaii's keiki. Through a partnership with Savers, the Foundation provides much-needed funds to run our mentoring services. This is important because:
- All revenues from our partnership go directly to funding one-to-one mentoring programs
- Clothing collected stays out of our landfills
- Our used clothing/goods collection service creates hundreds of jobs in Hawaii
You can support mentoring by making a clothing and used goods donation via drop-off or pick-up, or organizing a clothing drive at your school, office, or church. Visit the Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii Foundation's website to learn more at www.donatebigsofhawaii.com.
